This map layer shows the small arms importing countries, grouped according to the maximum import volume in US dollars into five categories for the year 2017. Imports are only shown that come from a country whose small arms export volume is higher than US $100,000.

Example of how to read the map:

In 2017, the Netherlands imported small arms amounting to US $73,099,051.

The figure shows the five countries that showed the highest small arms import volume in US dollars in 2016.

  • UN Comtrade - United Nations Commodity Trade

    Since 1962, the UN COMTRADE database makes available annual statistics on international foreign trade. Since 2010, it also makes monthly statistics for 50 countries available. The data sets that are free of charge are classified in 90 product groups and have been converted into US dollars taking into consideration the current country-specific exchange rates. Since 1996, trade statistics of 189 countries on military goods (weapons and ammunition) have been entered into the database.
