The ZVBw is responsible for making sure that the arms control treaties that are binding under international law are adhered to in Germany. The Small Arms and Light Weapons Guide was developed to train the soldiers in recognizing SALW and to be used in the field. The Guide provides information on parameters, typical markings, characteristics to distinguish the most common SALW worldwide from each other and of their origin and spread.
