This map layer shows the number of battle tanks per country, classed into five categories, for the year 2017.

Battle tanks are tanks that weigh at least 16.5 tonnes (unladen) and that can be equipped with a tank gun of at least 75mm calibre. Battle tanks belong to the category of heavy weapons systems. Its production is limited to about 25 countries while they are distributed (nearly) worldwide.
