This map layer shows how many multilateral arms control agreements each country has ratified. The figures are based on twenty-one important multilateral arms control agreements in force in 2016. An overview of the multilateral agreements taken into account is given here.
The following three levels, violent crisis, limited war and war describe violent conflict.

The Arms Trade Treaty (ATT)
The international arms trade is only partially governed by international law. The relevant individual agreements include the Mine Ban Treaty of 1997 and the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons of 1980, which bans weapons that have indiscriminate effects or cause excessive harm.
