This map layer shows the share of conflict resources, grouped according to 'oil and gas', 'diamonds', 'cacao, palm oil and tropical woods' in total exports of a country in 2017, grouped in five categories.

How important is the trade in conflict resources? This layer correlates the amount of export proceeds from conflict resources to the number of total exports. Data from UN Comtrade, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the Rough Diamond Statistics of the Kimberley Process and World Trade Organisation (WTO) data were used. Data on exports on ITTO's website, however, only refer to member countries. Countries that export tropical wood and that are not a member of ITTO have thus not been included in the data.
